Product information
The original gate unit GV A587 can be plug-and-play replaced by the redesigned VEW GV A587 RED. The redesign was designed according to DIN 50155 and fulfills the requirements as a plug-and-play replacement.
During the redesign of the gate unit several improvements in terms of circuit technology and design have been implemented.
1. The heat dissipation of the FETs that generate the pulse currents for quenching the GTO thyristors has been optimized by using 5mm aluminum
profiles instead of the sheet metal angle.
2. The energy storage unit, which stores the pulse currents from a cluster of electrolyte capacitors is arranged on a piggyback assembly and can therefore
be replaced as a unit.
3. The busbars that carry the pulse currents to the connection point are made of 10mm2 copper.
4. The connection point for the pulse current (approx. 1000A) is no longer designed as a bent scheet metal part with a loose nut, but as a solid 12mm CU connection
block, as an integral part of the circuit board.
5. The obsolete optical input and outpout couplers QFBR 1478/2478 were replaced by commercially available but selected coupler elements, which are interchangeable
as a component unit on a piggyback printed circuit board.
6. The correct functioning of the circuit components can be verified by means of a diagnostic connector with the outpunt of significant measured values.
