The redesign of the PE 01 module is implemented as a 3U 28HP 19-inch plug-in module and is fully dimensionally and functionally compatible with the original module from the manufacturer H & B. The special PE 01 ROBUST version is equipped with a galvanized sheet steel chassis and is qualified for use in mechanically highly demanding or earthquake-resistant applications.
The original module can therefore be replaced “plug and play” with the redesigned version without requiring any changes to the system.
The PE 01 ROBUST module is used to control two-phase motors in S & F lever and linear (push) drives.
In conjunction with the S4 position sensor, continuous positioning of the drive is achieved in automatic mode using a controlled phase-angle control via triacs, which, due to a special circuit design, can control motors in a power range from 5 W up to 240 W.
The phase-shifting capacitor is integrated into the plug-in module and can be replaced with one of a different capacitance depending on the motor power.
The control system ensures a drive torque proportional to the deviation, even in the case of small positioning errors.
The electronics act as a position controller with proportional (P) behavior; that is, the position of the control drive changes proportionally to the position setpoint provided by the upstream setpoint controller connected to the PE 01 ROBUST.
For position feedback of the control drive, the S4 position sensor is used, which provides a position-proportional analog signal of 0/4…20 mA or 0/2… 10 V to the PE 01.
The supply voltage for the position sensor is provided by the PE 01 ROBUST in a short-circuit-proof manner and is monitored.
For monitoring and control of all functions, the integrated fault signaling unit of the PE 01 is used, along with the “manualautomatic” switching and the interlock, enable, and control inputs.
The inputs are interlocked against implausible signals.
